Podolski Loves Roma & Italy - Agent

fount : goal.com

Roma are well known to be in the market for a new attacker, following the exit of Amantino Mancini to Inter. The club’s primary target had been Adrian Mutu, but after a deal appeared to be on the cards, Fiorentina pulled the plug at the last moment.

The Giallorossi have been linked with a whole host of other attackers, including Julio Baptista and Djibril Cisse, but both it seems will not be arriving at the Stadio Olimpico.

Another player whose name has been associated this summer is Bayern Munich’s Lukas Podoslki. The 23-year-old’s future at the Allianz Arena has been called into question recently, with the press consistently claiming that a summer transfer could be on the cards.

The forward joined Bayern from Cologne in 2006, however things have not really worked out for him in Bavaria, and he spent most of last season in the shadows of Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose.

However, a superb Euro 2008 with Germany has reminded everyone of his ability, and a number of Italian clubs, including Roma and Juventus, have been linked with making a move for him.

"At the moment we don't want to comment on the situation of Lukas Podolski,” the player's agent Kon Schramm told Laromasiamonoi.it after being asked about the possibility of a transfer to Roma.

“But we especially like Italy and Rome. Obviously as a city (laughing)."

Podolski was in fine form for Bayern today as he bagged a hat-trick in a 4-2 friendly win over Japanese side Urawa Red Diamonds.

Cisse Not Joining Roma – Agent

The Giallorossi have been desperately searching for a top class centre forward all summer, and after missing out on Adrian Mutu, and being linked to other targets such as Julio Baptista, it was reported in some sections of the Italian press this morning that Djibril Cisse was on the verge of joining the Giallorossi.

Tuttomercatoweb claimed that Roma were set to snap up the French international for the relatively low price of €7m, and that the deal could become official within days.

However, Cisse’s agent has rubbished all talk of a transfer, and has blamed the striker’s brother for starting the false rumours.

“First of all Cissè doesn’t want to go to Italy,” Ranko Stojic told Laromasiamonoi.it.

“Secondly, I haven’t had any contact with the Giallorossi regarding Cissè.

“I know where these stories come from - the player’s brother talks too much without any authority.

“Roma isn’t an option that interests Cissè and I have no meeting with them scheduled.”

Cisse, who scored 15 goals last season, is still expected to leave Marseille this summer after falling out with his club’s president Pape Diouf.

Roma To Sign Cisse For €7m

The Giallorossi have been desperately searching for a top class centre forward all summer, and with exactly a month to go until the end of the transfer window, it seems they have finally found their man.

A few days ago it was reported in the press that Roma were launching a bid for Djibril Cisse, who is almost certain to leave Marseille this summer after falling out with his club’s president Pape Diouf.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Giallorossi are set to snap up the French international for the relatively low price of €7m, and the deal could become official in the not too distant future.

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has requested Cisse due to his explosive pace, which would work well with Roma’s pass-and-move style of play.

The 26-year-old has had a dreadful time with injuries over the past few years, but last season he appeared to be getting back to his best, scoring 15 goals for Marseille, and even coming close to a call-up to Euro 2008.

Cisse is far from being Roma’s primary target this summer, following the failed attempt for Fiorentina’s Adrian Mutu, but should this deal go through, the Giallorossi should still have enough money to go out and buy another top quality player.

Roma Finally Satisfy Aquilani Demands

Aquilani has been involved in frustrating contract negotiations with Roma all summer, and his future at the club has become increasingly uncertain in recent weeks due to the failure of both sides to find a compromise.

The highly rated Italy international’s current deal expires in 2010 and he has made it perfectly clear that he expects €2.5m in wages per year in order to pen an extension.

Until now, the highest Roma had been willing to offer was €1.6m, and negotiations had reportedly become so bad that the Giallorossi were even ready to sell the midfielder this summer, with Juventus and Inter both ready to pounce.

However, Il Messagero today claims that Aquilani is now set to finally sign a new contract after Roma bowed to his wishes and offered him €2.5m per year until 2013.

The new deal will include bonuses depending on attendance and performance, but Aquilani is expected to put pen to paper within the next seven days.

The 24-year-old is Roma through-and-through, having been born in the city, and having graduated through the club’s famous youth system along with the likes of Daniele De Rossi and Gianluca Curci.

Virga’s Future Still Uncertain – Agent

De Nicola denied that Virga is on the verge of signing for Triestina, as he explained that the Giallorossi might opt to hold on to him unless they manage to sign more wingers during this transfer window.

“No he is not close to Triestina, but very close to Roma and unless the Giallorossi will fill-up the wingers departments, then they will keep him,” confirmed the player’s agent to Laromasiamonoi.it.

“In the eventuality that investments are made in that role, then we can talk about a transfer, but for the time being at Trigoria they have no intention of selling him.”

De Nicola revealed which teams are interested in signing his client.

“The interested teas are Mantova, Rimini, Triestina and Avellino, and right now they are all on the same level until we receive any signal from Roma,” he concluded.
